Here are the picks for Bellator XIV (also known as zeev).
MAIN CARD
Featherweight Quarterfinal
Shad Lierley vs. Wilson Reis
Wilson Reis was supposed to win last years featherweight tournament, but somebody forgot to tell to the current belt holder Joe Soto. While Lierley will put up a valiant effort, Reis is on a mission.
- Reis via man on a missionTKO
Welterweight Quarterfinal
Ben Askren vs. Ryan Thomas
The first fight for this seasons welterweight tournament has UFC vet Ryan Thomas(0-2) going up against another decorated collegiate wrestling and former Olympian turned mma prospect Ben Askren. Making it to the UFC only to get released after two fights doesn’t bode well, it only shows that your talented but beatable. In the early brackets of the tourney its easy and safe to go for the favorite and superstar wrestler.
- Askren via Funky UD
Lightweight Quarterfinal
Toby Imada vs. James Krause
2009 submission of the year winner and tournament finalist Toby Imada tries again for a shot at the belt. Standing in his way is a guy who couldn’t hack it with the lightweights in the WEC. Once again barring a flash KO or drastic all around improvement from Krause…I’m going with the proven fighter.
- Imada via submission…surprise 2x
Pat Curran vs. Mike Ricci
The most compelling lightweight bout so far in the tournament has TriStar Gym product Mike Ricci going up against 155lb vet Pat Curran. Cousin of featherweight standout Jeff Curran, this will be the biggest fight of Pats career. Too bad its going to be against the protege of GS-freaking-P. Curran better hope for a decision and a home field advantage to see him through.
Ricci via TKO
