With the Strikeforce event coming to a close we have yet another weeks worth of talking to do over another middleweight title fight. After surviving a gauntlet of a first round Jake Shields went on to out grapple the former Pride Champion and UFC vet Dan Henderson and retain his title.
And then things got interesting, Jason “Mayhem” Miller lived up to his nickname by interrupting Shields post victory speech to ask a seemingly simple question.
“Where’s my rematch, buddy?!”
Jakes teammates from Ceasar Gracies bjj academy were not amused by Millers scene stealing and promptly swarmed and attacked the lone middleweight. In a night with 3 title fights that went the distance, this debacle stole the show. And while I personally am a huge fan of Nick Diaz I can totally see why such a short tempered man is not in the UFC anymore.
With King Mo wrestling his way to the title and Gilbert Melendez beating the crap out of Japans top lightweight and retaining his title. The show was a tepid one at best to say the least but had its entertaining moments here and there.
Look at it this way, at least it made Dana White happy. And just like Anderson Silvas last performance it has given the mma blogesphere a huge chunk of material to bump our gums over.

I was watching this in shock, you know? While on one hand, it’s pretty hilarious and Mayhem is funny and it was ridiculous seeing 4 guys trying to beat one up… it’s pretty shitty for MMA, and I can’t imagine that CBS will have another free strikeforce anytime soon. Brett was DVR-ing it, and we had to replay that shit haha.
I was watching in awe, sadly it was the most exciting part of the card other than Hendo’s first round seal clubbing of Sheilds.
Mayhem may have spoken out of turn, but the Ceasar Gracie camp overreacted something fierce. That was uncalled for and may cost Strikeforce dearly.
