From MMA Junkie
Forrest Griffin’s spot didn’t stay empty very long.
Mere hours after reports surfaced that the former light heavyweight champion had been forced out of his UFC 114 contest with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (18-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC), MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned that Jason Brilz (18-2-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) has agreed to take the fight on a little less than four-weeks’ notice.
What Brilz lacks in marquee name value he makes up for in talent, going 3-1 in the UFC’s ligh heavyweight division is nothing to scoff at. Still have to sigh at my hopes of seeing Bones Jones vs Lil Nog being dashed so soon. Hopefully 4 weeks will be enough time for Brilz to prepare for a top 10 contender/sarcasm. That being said anything can happen.
Thanks to Bloody Elbow for the original fight pic.
