While going 3 out of 5 wasn’t too bad, I am going to chastise myself for completely forgetting Alistair Overeems ground game and Brett Rodgers lack of one. Even though he is primarily known for his striking and kickboxing, The Reem does have a ground game and has picked up a number of wins via submission. So his dominating performance should not have been too surprising, but in a weird way it was.

The other fight that I called wrong but was completely surprised by was Arlovski getting out clinched and edged out by Bigfoot Silva? With this being his third loss in a row, and the second one to an opponent that was perceived to be no match for the former UFC champion. Where the Pitbull goes from here is anybodies guess, but he has to either completely destroy his next opponent or stick to his acting career. Nothing short of a complete re-dedication to the sport can save this man, but how much fight can be left in a guy who has fallen so far from grace and has a viable career as a believable tough guy in the movies.

Other than that the event went off without a hitch and the other bouts went my way. Gracie got his sub, Feijao got his KO and Jacare didn’t sub but still won against Joey Villasenor (yay for people validating my assumptions). Hopefully if Fedor can get past Werdum we can look forward to 10 months worth of M1 trying to negotiate a title shot with a more than willing champion in Overeem whilst Cocker desperately tries to keep the company afloat.
